I have two other complete ficlets as well, so I'm going to put all three of them up. :D;

It had become a comfortable routine. Fonrar and Kang would share dinner whenever they could, and just talk. Even though they'd been doing this for over four months, they never seemed to run out of things to discuss (and the rare times they did, they were comfortable with just spending time together), and lately, Fonrar had been staying later and later before leaving.

They'd discovered that it was very enjoyable to sit together on the bed when talking, and had gotten to a point where leaning on each other and snout-bumps were common; Fonrar would give Kang the occasional playful punch in the shoulder as well, but never very hard.

"Thes has been... acting strange lately. I don't think she's happy about the arrangement issue, and I can't really blame her," the female sat with her legs pulled up against her chest, frowning worriedly. "She tries to hide it, but I'm her best friend. She should know better than to try it with me."

Kang sighed, "I don't blame her, either. I wish things were different, though. Auraks are already rare, and with her being the only female... she has a duty. You know how hard of a decision it was for me to make."

"I know, Kang. She knows it too, but..." Fonrar shook her head. "She hasn't even met him yet. That's probably what's bothering her most."

"Maybe I should talk to her tomorrow. Reassure her."

She smiled, bumping his snout, "I think it'll help. And maybe she'll open up a little, stop holding it all in."

Kang nodded, "Things'll turn out alright. Thesik knows she's got you and the other girls to rely on, and me, as well. From the information I've gotten, Artisanthax seems like a decent draco."

"If he doesn't treat her well, he's going to have one very angry group of females after his hide," Fonrar growled, tail lashing slightly. The action made Kang grin and bump her snout, and she glared at him, "...what?"

"I don't know. There's just something about you when you're like this."

Fonrar punched him in the shoulder.

"The hell was that one for?" Kang leaned away from her, laughing.

"...you can be so"--she snorted--"I don't know. I should go, though." Fonrar started to stand up, but was stopped by a hand on her forearm.

He didn't say anything or look at her for a good few seconds, and just as she was about to ask him what was wrong, he opened his mouth, "You... uh, you don't have to go." Kang's wings shifted a bit before he continued, "I mean, it's up to you. Just... you're welcome to stay. Tonight. If you want to."

Fonrar stared at him, mouth opening slightly in surprise, "I... okay. But... you know word of this is going to reach everyone by morning."

"I don't care. It's our business anyways, not anyone else's," he looked her in the eyes and gave her a small smile.

"...well then," she smiled back, shyly, and reclaimed her seat next to him. "I wouldn't mind at all staying here tonight."

((For the record, nothing happened beyond sleeping that night.))

NSFW

It was the evening before the first official celebration of the Day of Hope, three years after Kang and his regiment had discovered the first twenty females of the draconian race in the tunnels of Thorbardin.

Almost all of the planning had been done by the people. Kang knew of quite a few events that were going to be held throughout the city, from word of mouth (aka Fonrar and Slith); displays of music, food, art... they hadn't existed on Krynn for very long, but they did have a culture all their own, and damn if they weren't going to celebrate it.

There was one very important event that the females had coordinated, one that made the Governor a little nervous.

"Kang. What is wrong with you? You're being a lot quieter than usual," Fonrar frowned, coming up behind him and poking him in the side with a claw. "Get away from the desk. That damn paperwork can wait a while."

Sighing, Kang shook his head and pushed his chair out to stand up, "I'm fine. And you're right, it can wait a bit."

The female cocked an eye at him and crossed her arms over her chest, "Tell me what's up."

"...nothing's up, Fon. I'm fine."

"Uh-huh. That's why you've hardly spoken to me all night. Now tell me what's on your mind, Kang."

"I've just been busy, that's all," he hedged, not quite looking Fonrar in the eyes.

She glared at him and took a step forward so that she was right in front of him, poking him in the chest this time, "It's more than that. Don't even try to lie to me."

Kang stayed silent for a moment, then snorted softly, "Alright. I can't help but be a little nervous about tomorrow. Didn't think it was important enough to mention."

"Why the hell are you nervous? We've talked about this, more than once, and you agreed it was a good idea to do it in this fashion. No fancy ceremony or any of that bullshit the other races do, just simple public declarations," Fonrar gave him an odd look.

"It's... a big step, Fon. For our entire race. You girls grew up with males around, so it's easier for you to get used to," Kang shook his head slightly.

Arms crossed over her chest, she leaned in a little closer, her voice soft, "It is a big step. I understand that. But, it's only a sentence. Hell, I'm the one saying it, I should be the nervous one, not you; you're just going to stand there."

"Yeah, stand there in front of hundreds of dracos, during one of the most important moments of our history," he pointed out, one corner of his mouth going up in a slight smile. "I'll be fine, though. Even leaders are allowed to be nervous, aren't they?"

Fonrar shook her head, a smile of her own on her face, "No. You have to be confident and never show signs of fear or worry at all times."

Kang couldn't help chuckling at that, and leaned down a bit to bump his snout against hers briefly, "Never? I must have been misinformed."

"Leaders aren't allowed to be wrong, either," she teased, the tip of her much more flexible tail snaking forward and running down the lower portion of his leg.

That was new.

He looked down, watching, unable to take his eyes off of her tail for a good few seconds, then back up, taken completely by surprise by the little jolt that went through his spine, all the way down to the tip of his own tail. The look on her face was one he'd never seen before, one he couldn't really describe. "Fonrar...?"

She didn't answer verbally, instead putting a hand on Kang's shoulder and leaning up, her snout lingering longer than usual against his. Her tail ran down his leg again, slower this time. His own hands moved to her shoulders, and he glanced down at her hesitantly, "...what are you doing?"

"You think too much sometimes," Fonrar murmured, moving so that their chests were touching and giving him that look again. "Relax. Go with it." Her wings shifted, flaring out slightly as Kang unconsciously made a low rumbling noise deep in his chest.

"I do not," Kang growled quietly, his grip tightening on her shoulders as she began to move backwards towards the bed in the corner of the room, pulling him with her. Unsure as he was, he allowed her, though he stopped in his tracks when her arms wound their way around his neck and her hands brushed against the propatagium of his wings. "Fon, do you really...?"

She snorted, pressing closer and brushing her hands against his wings again, making the rumble in his chest get louder, "Kang, you're asking me this the night before I'm about to announce to the entirety of Teyr that I'm choosing you as my mate?"

He ducked his head, scales clicking, "I just... I don't want to rush you."

"I have been waiting several months for you to make a move, and my patience has worn out. Either you prove to me, right now, that you want me as a mate, or I'm going to find another male." Fonrar fixed him with a glare, a definite hiss in her voice, and one of her hands moved to the small of his back, right above his tail, pressing their bodies further together.

A low growl escaped Kang at the touch and her words, and he pushed her a step closer to the bed, "I really don't like that idea."

She grinned smugly, every single one of her sharp teeth visible, and yanked him down on top of her as she fell back onto the bed, "Well, I really hope the one you don't like is me latching on to, say, Gloth. Because I want you."

"Gloth?" he hissed, wings flaring slightly as he straddled her hips, pinning her down. "You'd pick him over any of the other bozak males if I refused you?"

"If you don't hurry it up, I will," Fonrar shot back, teeth snapping barely an inch from his shoulder. "I'm sure he'd be more than happy to fuck me."

"He won't get the chance," Kang growled, gripping her upper arms tightly. As... infuriating as the idea of her with another male was, there was still a little bit of nervousness that he was trying to push down. He knew, in theory, what he was supposed to do, but he'd never done it himself. He was trying to keep control of himself at the same time, slightly afraid he would hurt her by accident even though he was very well aware that draconian females were tougher than softskins.

"Stop. Talking." Hissing, she did bite his shoulder, hard enough to cause pain, but not enough to draw blood. Her attempt to flip him over onto his back was stopped when he grabbed her wrists and pinned them above her head with one right hand, using his heavier weight to his advantage, and the lightweight cloth of her tunic and kilt were ripped away as his control slipped. It wasn't so much about seeing her nude as it was increasing scale-to-scale contact; modesty wasn't really an issue since their physical differences weren't anywhere near as obvious as other bipedal races. She grinned, a very pleased rumble starting in her chest, and bit him again, the top of her snout briefly sliding against the bottom of his in an almost tender gesture afterwards, "That is more like it."

It was a bit of a struggle for Kang to fight his way through the haze in his mind and get his control back. Pausing, he looked down at her, his free hand moving underneath of her to slide up the scales of her back, along her spine, and almost awkwardly running his fingers over the propatagium of one of her wings to see if she enjoyed it as much as he did. "...just, uh, let me know if I do anything you don't like."

Fonrar growled, her wing twitching at the contact, "When have I ever not let you know, you idiot?" Unfortunately for Kang, the nerve damage in his right hand made it so his grip was nowhere near as strong as it used to be, and she yanked herself free, taking advantage of his hesitation and flipping them over so that she was on top of him. "And you know what I'm not liking right now? The fact that you're still talking. So I'm going to shut you up." Her own grip was very strong, and she returned the favor, pinning his wrists with one hand and removing his clothing with more care than he'd given hers.

He hissed, discovering that while he'd always enjoyed seeing her being aggressive, he really wasn't liking the loss of control as much. He was stronger than her, though, and after a few tries, he managed to free his hands and switch their positions again, wings extended, practically snarling. Fonrar laughed, leaning her head up and biting at his neck, earning herself another growl and a sharp nip at her shoulder; she simultaneously tried to free herself and pressed closer, urging him on, the rumble in her chest seeming to get louder by the second.

No more words were said as instinct took over, their bodies aligning, and for several minutes, there was nothing but hisses, low growls, and snarls as they struggled for dominance. Kang's greater height and weight effectively kept her pinned beneath him, although she didn't make it very easy to do so, and when it was over, he all but collapsed on top of her, flanks heaving as he tried to catch his breath.

"Now, was that really so difficult?" Fonrar grinned, giving him another nip, her own breath short.

He was silent for a moment, and then he began to laugh, his wingtips shaking slightly. "Why the hell didn't you speak up sooner, Fon?"

She snorted, "I was hoping that you would catch on without having to be told. Now get off; you're heavy."

"Right now, I'm really wishing I had," still laughing, Kang did so, rolling over onto his back and smiling at her. Fonrar grinned, curling up against his side and resting her chin on his chest, contented rumbles coming from both of them.

Fonrar came home to squeals of laughter and a low growling sound coming from the side room. Her mate and children, no doubt. Curious as to what exactly was going on, she padded over to the doorway as silently as she could and peered in, staring at the scene before her with a slow grin forming on her face.

Kang was on all fours on the floor, wings held high and growling, chasing after the hatchlings as they ran around, trying to escape. He had a grin on his face as he moved, not noticing Fonrar watching, "Be careful, the bear's going to get you!" All four of the young draconians erupted into laughter again, their eyes bright, and one of them used her wings to hop over the legs of a chair that had been knocked over.

Fonrar's hand came up to cover her mouth as she watched, holding in her own laughter, and after a moment, she moved fully into the doorway, leaning on it with one shoulder and crossing her arms over her chest, "You know, it just looks ridiculous to me now."

The room went silent for a moment as Kang and the younglings stopped where they were, and then there was a flurry of movement as four little bodies dashed towards their mother, latching on to her legs and tail, "We're being chased by a bear!"

"I can see that," Fonrar laughed, smiling down at them.

Grinning sheepishly, Kang shifted so that he was sitting on the floor, "You and the other girls enjoyed it well enough when you were little."

"You were a lot bigger then," she pointed out, smile still on her face. "Kids. The bear's dropped his guard. Go attack him."

Kang barely had time to blink before the younglings raced towards him and began climbing all over him, one of the males claiming his shoulders with a triumphant shout. A yank to his tail from the smaller female brought him tumbling down, though, and she quickly took his spot, giggling.

"I'm up high!"

The male hissed at his sister, wings flaring, and launched himself at her, only to be snatched up by Fonrar before he could reach her, "Brevo. No. Last time you attacked one of your siblings, you nearly broke her arm."

Kang frowned and plucked the female off of his shoulders, setting her on the ground in front of him and holding her still, "No pulling on tails, Yana. We've told you this before." She grumbled and squirmed in an attempt to escape, only to have her snout taken hold of firmly and her father's eyes directly on hers, "Do you understand me?"

"...yes," Yana answered, wings drooping. The other two younglings stayed silent, watching and listening.

"Good. Don't do it again."
