At a late-night White House meeting between the president and key congressional leaders, House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) made clear that his conference would not approve funding for the government if any money were allowed to flow to Planned Parenthood through legislation known as Title X. "This comes down to women's health issues related to Title X," a person in the meeting told HuffPost.

Planned Parenthood is such a horrible organization that you'd rather furlough federal employees (like my mother), not pay our soldiers (I am so fucking glad he's retired now), and not give people their tax refunds. But Congress still needs to get paid! They need that $174K+ a year so badly.

Here's a lovely little quote from freshman Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI), whose salary is $174K:

"I guarantee most of you, I have more debt than all of you. With six kids, I still pay off my student loans. I still pay my mortgage. I drive a used minivan. If you think I'm living high off the hog, I've got one paycheck. So I struggle to meet my bills right now."

There are people with three or more kids, student loans, and used cars managing to live on $35K a year. Cry me a fucking river.

Conservative activists have long been pushing for cultural riders and, with Republicans back in control the House, have a chance to push them forward. "Why can't you slash Planned Parenthood and NPR and these -- these non-vital programs? Why can't you slash them?" Fox News host Bill O'Reilly demanded of Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) Thursday evening.

"Well, we're talking about health care. We're talking about education," Rangel replied.

"Health care is another matter," O'Reilly said. "That has to be taken very methodically because people's lives are affected. Nobody's life is affected by NPR. Nobody's life is affected by Planned Parenthood. These are options."

Both my parents, several family members and several friends of mine have served or are serving in the military, and they are not anything like that.

Most. Soldiers. Aren't. Do not judge the many by the actions of the few idiots out there.

Edit to clarify:

I've seen numbers that range from one in six to one in three women being assaulted/raped in their lives, so really, I can't say I'm surprised. I don't trust any of the male statistics, because the majority of those are not reported due to the idiotic belief that men can't be raped, or that it makes them look weak.

What pissed me off about the article itself was the fact that the military is sweeping this shit under the rug. Don't get me wrong, I'm aware that a lot of colleges and businesses do it too. It's to prevent any negative light shown on them.

Thing is, though, it's wrong. It needs to stop. More people need to speak out, to let it be known that they won't stand for it.
